So what’s going on here? Why am I getting a Substack newsletter—BMS reConnect— from Grant Salmon, my friend/colleague/acquaintance/guy I’ve bumped into in the past? I’m glad you asked. A few points to help answer that:
It’s because I like you. For real.
In fact, I like you so much that I have hand-picked you for this list because I think you might enjoy the content I plan on curating, which will be primarily about digital transformation and technology, mostly in real estate.
I want to stay connected with you. That has been a challenge over these past two pandemic years, and I’m hoping to do a better job of that moving forward.
I’ve changed jobs (internally) a few times within the past 5 years; I have a lot of great contacts that I don’t get to interact with on a day-to-day basis in my new role and, per above, I want to stay in touch.
reConnect…the content will primarily be about Commercial Real Estate, and I want to re-connect with you.
The “BMS” part is because I work in building automation, and I’m going to be talking about that a lot.
The industry is at an interesting moment with respect to technology, and I think I have some interesting insights to share.
I like to write.
I think it will be fun.
That’s it. That’s the whole story. I just want to stay better connected with all of the great people I come across and share some interesting tid bits relevant to what I am working on. Thanks for joining me!

I really love playing darts.
It has become my passion project over the past few years. I even finished 7th in my league last year! In another life, I must’ve spent a lot of time in British pubs or something.
All of this just means I am absolutely blown away by this 14 year old kid who hit a 9-darter in a tournament the other day. That is kind of like bowling a 300 or pitching a no-hitter. Nine straight “called” shots. Ridiculous.
Perhaps someday I will be like this 14 year old British lad. Someday….
